Such an authentic, modern tribute to loving someone who's just not in the space to give it back. Amy your voice is sounding amazing and Angus the production is beautiful. Great track ❤
Scottish Singer/Songwriter Amy Papiransky returns with catchy new pop single “Summertime Blues" released on Friday, 4th June with support from BRIT and Ivor Novello Award-Winning Singer/Songwriter KT Tunstall and her Management team.
KT says: ”Amy is a brilliant new Scottish female talent, it was a no-brainer for me to see what I could do to help her get closer to her dream of living life as a working musician; the very same dream I once had growing up in Scotland.”
“Summertime Blues” follows the success of recent single “Dear Amy” which peaked at number 19 on the UK iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart, and had plays on BBC Radio Scotland, Soho Radio and Amazing Radio. The music video features on Vevo’s ‘Pure Pop Playlist’.
Heartfelt, reflective and melodious, “Summertime Blues” is about one of Amy’s best friends...
“She is so strong and caring but when her partner is having a bad time he will often call off their relaIonship, leaving her feeling hurt, confused and insecure. The line “I should want the world to want me, not only you” is about her realising that even though she loves him deeply, she deserves to be treated with more care and respect.” says Amy.
Amy has again teamed up with friend and regular collaborator - Angus Lyon - who produced and recorded her debut album - Read Me Write. “I had some studio recording time booked with Angus at Grans House Studio in Lamington.” says Amy. “I ended up wriIng “SummerIme Blues” the night before heading into the studio. Songwriting is the only aspect of my life where I thrive under pressure! We used a lot of samples and keyboard sounds on this track which was really fun, as I had never worked in this way before.”
lyrics
VERSE 1
I’ve laid it on the line too many times, but it still won’t work out.
Go tell your friends, they’ll be your mirror no doubt.
I know your hands your mouth, inside out , it’s your mind I can’t work out
I’m tired..
CHORUS
I should want the world to want me, not only you
Rewind to salty kisses playing summer time fools
I should want the world to meet me, let go of you.
When I leave please remember this hurts me too.
VERSE 2
Why do you love me less when by my side, it makes me feel blue.
I’ll go my own way, I can’t make sense of you.
I taste you in my mouth, bittersweet, with you thoughts I can’t compete.
I tired.. OH SO tired
CHORUS
I should want the world to want me, not only you
Rewind to salty kisses playing summer time fools
I should want the world to meet me, let go of you.
When I leave remember this hurts me too.
BRIDGE
Fantasy, an exercise .. of torture on the soul
Messed with my head too many times. I need you to know
Fantasy and exercise.. of torture on the soul
Hurt me in more ways than one. You need to let go. Please let me go.
CHORUS
I should want the world to want me, not only you
Rewind to salty kisses in the summertime blues
I should want the world to meet me, let go of you
When I leave remember this hurts me too. ..
This hurts me too, oh this hurts me too.
